  14. Can you compare the endorsement money the likes of tuface get compared to K1. Mtn, airtel, condoms, Guinness endorsements, year in, year out. They are loaded

    ReplyDelete
  15. you guys sit down there. The owmabe people that K1 caters to will buy all those so called endorsement companies with their owners sef. You guys dont understand the type of arabian money flowing in that naija amongst the few who have tapped/stolen it...Be comparing 2face to K1...aside from politician and business men,, this dude has a lot of olodu boys by the balls. They used to "take care" of him big time but it seems now, no more odu so the free money has reduced but if K1 didnt build something like this with all the money he made of people, he would have been a fool

  27. building this kind of house in Ijebu Ode????
another reason why education is a necessity in life.

  28. the day we come to understand that most of our rich musicians (with a few exception) are either doing illicit runs (drugs for the males and prostitution for the females) or living on borrowed funds and above their means, the better for us.
They tell us what we want to hear but the truth is never hidden forever. It reminds me of all these Nollywood girls who claim to have been paid millions to endorse one weave on or the other. I just laff. I just hope they use condoms.HIV no dey hear endorsement o!

  29. @ all those querying the wisdom of building a house like this in Ijebu Ode - you most probably haven't been around Ijebu Ode. Ijebus are by no means poor and there are loads of proper old money in the town.

    ReplyDelete
  30. you people that are saying you dont know why he would build a mansion in Ijebu are very ignorant. An Ijebu man is like an Ibo Man, their mansion in their village must be bkgger than that in Lagos. you will see finer houses in Ijebu than Lagos.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Im from Ijebu haters eff off

    ReplyDelete
  32. the issue is not whether folks in Ijebu are rich or poor. the fact is that this house has no resale value and no bank will talk to you if you dare seek a loan with it as collateral.

    ReplyDelete
  33. abeg, leave K1 alone, a hardworking guy like him deserve a good thing, c
    ongratulations joo

  34. @anon 05:21
Why would he want to sell his retirement home? At 55yrs old uilding such a house is indicative of probably the last house he will build and live in
Even westerners especially the british retire to the countryside and buy or build grand houses at this age

  35. all this talk about drugs is gibberish...he may have them as patrons but people bigger than k1 has been hounded into prison by the authorities here is a guy that is a citizen of the world ...owns a home in Canada,US,and 9ja ....he is only smart in seeing opportunity where others dont ...he leeches on tinubu coz he knows his worth...and on the y ijebu-ode of all places i bet some of u havent been there ...check out Otunba Tunwase court subomi balogun's house, check out Bayo Kuku's house, check out Afirukere gboye villa late Demola Adekogbe's house then u will know the choice of the ijebu's in their homestead...but like an anus we've all got one ..so come out if u have nuffing at ll in your own closet tooo

  36. @ Anon 02 March, 2012 01:36 really? **shakes head** It's the awesomeness of God that even the lousiest of cooks can recognize when food lacks salt. It's a miracle really.
Talking about someone needing an education which you clearly don't have *smh*
If you had any education, you would immediately see the good in what he has done. I don't particularly care for show off and all that BS but anybody can really see that the disparity in revenue generated in Lag vs other states is very very very huge. If only people spread their wealth a lot more across the states.
Look at this situation for example, (hopefully if K1 didn't 'import' workers from Lagos) over 10 small biz (from roofers to plumbers to electricians to tiler etc) have just gained a customer and hopefully a repeat customer wrt to repairs and maintenance. I don't see this house being unoccupied for lengthy periods and that's good news for other small biz/self employed pple (recharge card sellers, hairdressers/barbers, cobbler, drivers, event centres, clubs, schools etc).

Now imagine what would happen if a lot more people start building houses (and then biz) in other states besides Lagos, it's only natural that old biz get a boost, new biz spring up, more money for Govt and of course thieves, omo oniles and Area boys can now spread out to other states :-)

  37. Dear Fatimah, I suspect that you might be just a tad bit retarded! Building a house that you can't sell or use as collateral is a TERRIBLE investment. A giant house that sits empty for most of the year does absolutely NOTHING for the local economy besides a one-time blip in construction revenues.

All these people yarning nonsense about Ijebu's building better houses in Ijebu Ode than in Lagos should just shut-up already. Last time I checked, Adenuga's house in Banana Island is better than anything he owns in Ijebuland (that is if he owns anything there at all).

Abeg, let's not be derailed. K1 is/was a drug baron and this is the current topic of discussion.

  40. @03 March, 2012 15:18, I am in no way retarded, if only u bothered to digest my comments properly and think a little...

Like i said u lack education and that shows greatly. Read my comment again and think Ikorodu. didn't Ikorodu and Sango start with a few people wanting to become landlords? (in their own right) now see the phenomenal growth happening at those places (It's far from perfect) but at least you can't deny the amount of jobs and opportunities that has been and is still being created and this silly noise you are making about investment, in case nobody told you, your personal/retirement house is not an investment and not meant to be.If he wanted to invest in real estate, he could have chosen to build an hotel or an apartment building etc. so stop yarning dust and think!

@Anon 03 March, 2012 23:37, I'm not defendind K1, I am just pissed off some people are shallow enough to think Lagos/Abuja/PH are the only places deserving of good buildings.

  41. And who says a house in Ijebu cannot be sold or used as collateral. What a way to think. My father's block of flats was built in Ijebu about 2 decades ago. Even then, he was able to rent out to teachers, bank officials, govt officials etc. Now, with the proximity to Lagos (45 mins drive), the increasing urbanization of the Lagos/Ogun axis and the expansion of Ogun state university into all parts of the state, the value of the property has spiked.
Did you know that there are plans for a 4th mainland bridge that would make commuting from Lagos to Ogun a breeze. When I was young and we would take the old road to Ijebu, Ikorodu was way underdeveloped, now property values have spiked. If someone had built a duplex in ikorodu 20 years ago, naysayers like you would have said rubbish. With urbanization, trust me, non-indigenes will be buying property, yes mansions even in non-Lagos states.
Lastly, go to Ijebu-ode before you talk about resale value and whatnot. It's a vibrant commercial city. Admittedly, this mansion is not a commercial property but even mansions have their buyers. Case in point, my uncle's mansion in our hometown. He sold it to some Lebanese or was it Greek people who had a factory about a 20 min drive away and who would give all these oyinbo diplomatic type dinners, have expatriates out from Lagos for the weekend, go to forest to hunt game (Igbo irunmole no gree them sha) and do all sorts. The house was grand with greenery beyond imagination.
All in all, for now wasiu will just enjoy his mansion. Meanwhile the anon yarning opats can go read a copy of real estate for dummies.

  42. And again to anon 03:18 I wanted to add that sometimes, building a house is NOT an investment. Woods's wife demolished a house and will be building another over it.
Lots of people in the US build customized houses that they might never find a buyer for. But hey, they don't care because they have the money to do so. I think you should argue in context. In this case and millions who build in their villages, it's NOT an investment. If it happens to bring some returns down the line, oh better still!!!
And unless you have personal evidence, you can't say for sure that he was/is a drug baron. You can say for sure that he sang the praises of several shady people. But since when did that become a crime in itself? I wouldn't do it but na his voice and na his choice.

  43. one thing in life is for someone to think twice before saying anything to another person. Anybody that doubt K1 for not capable of building such Mansion. should imagine himself or herself working for 30 years with a glaring high turnover Profession and not capable of living large. Haba Fear God before you open your mouth.
